The FX-2WIRE Kidde Analog Class A-B Two-Wire Module is an interface module that allows conventional two-wire smoke detectors and initiating circuits to connect to an addressable fire-alarm control system. It supervises the detector circuit for alarm or trouble conditions, converts the conventional input into an addressable signal, and communicates status to the panel as a unique addressable device. The module supports either Class A or Class B wiring topology and can operate with many standard two-wire detectors, enabling reuse of existing detection wiring in upgraded systems.
Model/SKU: FX-2WIRE
Brand: Kidde (FX Series)
Function: Converts conventional two-wire smoke detector loops or contact-type initiating devices into supervised addressable input for intelligent fire-alarm control panels.
Operation Modes: Configurable for Class A or Class B circuit operation; supports two-wire conventional smoke detectors, normally-open contact initiating devices, and trouble/alarm supervision.
Addressing: Device address is set via dual rotary-dial switches (TENS and ONES) on the front of the module.
Input/Output Power Ratings: 24 V DC regulated input; output supplies power to conventional detectors; typical smoke-power current 17 mA (standby), 58 mA (alarm) when powering detectors; control-panel supervision current ~350 µA.
Supported Wiring / Connections: Accepts 12–18 AWG wiring; compatible with standard North-American 4 in. square / 2 gang or 1.5 in. deep electrical boxes for module mounting.
Environmental / Operating Range: Operating temperature 32–120 °F (0–49 °C), relative humidity up to 93% non-condensing.
Compatibility: Designed for use with Kidde / Edwards “FX” series addressable control panels supporting two-wire module inputs.
Why It Matters: Enables integration of conventional two-wire smoke detectors or contact-type devices into modern addressable fire panels, allowing reuse of existing wiring and reducing upgrade cost while maintaining supervised detection and alarm reporting.
